I suspect the slightly mushy cloud textures help with the overall blending. XEnviro on the other hand has an excellent overall look, despite the lower-res clouds. So with the "ring of weather", very classic SMP look, it honestly looks like SMPv3. Getting some significant drops during certain METARs. Performance wise it's also a very mixed bag. Then you can change the rendering method of the clouds to something like soft or fast, which basically removes a lot of the details and give them that "powdered mashed potato" look that a lot of people are talking about. The clouds don't blend very well, just looks like a lot of high-resolution individual models that are thrown together which creates a very peculiar look. While individual cloud models may look nice and very crisp, the overall visual look when put together is very lacklustre. Outside of that I think the overall visuals have a lot of the problems previous versions of SMPv3 also had. Which means at high altitudes you're left with a pretty little ring where the clouds are rendered and a major gap on the horizon. It doesn't render to the horizon, which is apparently a problem between how X-Plane (11?) reports visibility and actually renders it, from what I understand.

#SKYMAXX PRO 4 HORIZON PATCH#
I'd probably have to wait for a patch or some tweaks to the X-Plane 11 version before I can make a proper final assessment, because right now, SMPv4 is fairly disappointing.
